I am an associate professor and chairperson of the Department History at St. John's University in Queens, New York. My published works include: Plaza of Sacrifices: Gender, Power, and Terror in 1968 Mexico (2005), co-edited with Andrae Marak of Smugglers, Brothels, and Twine: Transnational Flows of Contraband and Vice in North America (2011), and Women Drug Traffickers: Mules, Bosses, and Organized Crime (2014) and the forthcoming textbook Protests in the Streets: 1968 Across the Globe (2016)

From 1998-2002, I taught Latin American and women’s history at the University of Detroit Mercy. While at UDM, I co-founded James Guadalupe Carney Latin American Solidarity Archive (CLASA, http://liberalarts.udmercy.edu/clasa/), an activist and teaching archive on Latin American solidarity and human rights movements. Working with students, we designed the initial web sites, databases, and other materials.

In January 2013, I began a three-year term as the Vice-President for the Teaching Division of the American Historical Association (AHA).
