I am a cultural anthropologist by training. I teach contemporary history. I was a professional journalist in a previous life. My research focus is divided Korea, and for several years I have been active in the anti-militarism movement centered on the Korean Peninsula. Outside of my Korea-related work, I have a personal interest in mid-century design and also early (medieval and Renaissance) music. As an avocation, I volunteer to coordinate public access to a labyrinth in Milwaukee that is modeled after the one in the Chartres cathedral.
