I'm Assistant Professor of History at The New School, and my first book, Classroom Wars: Language, Sex, and the Making of Modern Political Culture, will be out in April 2015 from Oxford UP. I am working on a new project on wellness culture in America since 1950. Before I became a historian, I was a public-school Spanish teacher and before that, for a moment, an investment banker, which turned me into the feminist I am today.
