I'm the Moores Professor of Honors and English at the University of Houston. I teach intellectual history, literature, philosophy and I'm working on ways to use technology in the classroom. Recently I wrote Slow Reading in a Hurried Age (Harvard/Belknap, 2013), which discusses the obstacles and well as the opportunities for reading in an age of digital distraction. In March I'll be chairing a public panel at the New York Institute for the Humanities on distraction and attention.
